New Year, New.....

The year 2021 has begun. So far it sucks.

On January 2nd, I learned that a good friend passed away. He and I had just spoken around December. We were talking about candles. He knew I made and sold them, he was laughing that his wife didn't want any candles... it was funny. He was 100% in LOVE with his wife and their three children. We have been friends for years and our friendship was solidified at the Charolette Church bombing. See, my friend was also a pastor. We both were born and raised in the church. We each had a special relationship with each other through our connections in the church.

On January 3rd, I learned another friend passed away. He was the choir director at his church and was the choir director at the school where we used to teach. I hadn't seen him in years. But what I most remember about him was his love for singing and his passion for the kids. He made a CD back then, and I bought it. I'll see if I can find it in my home and listen to it again, just for him.

Then America, whose been on its way to official 3rd world status, proved that's where we are on the 6th of January. A black woman was almost murdered, minding her own business walking down the street in DC. The president incited a riot and a mob descended on the American Capitol. They were bent on overthrowing the legal government to keep a racist, sexist, misogynistic pig in power.

I haven't been to sleep yet. I've been awake for the past 27 hours or so. I started watching Ugly Betty again. It's about an "ugly" woman employed at a high fashion magazine. The father of this magazine hired her to be the personal secretary for his son...he wanted HER specifically because he was tired of his son sleeping with the help. I relate. I mean. I relate to being the ugly part that everyone just...deals with.

I need carbs and ice cream.
